Welcome to the website of Nitin Gupta. I'm a computer scientist by profession, and a photographer by passion. I'm working with a suppy chain management firm, slogging by the day, and found in random locations photographing by the night. I'm on a sabbatical from my doctoral studies at Cornell University, Ithaca. I graduated from IIT Bombay in 2006 with a bachelors degree in computer science.
Professional:
I'm on a sabbatical from my PhD at Cornell University Ithaca. My thesis is under Prof. Johannes Gehrke and is titled
Scalability in Virtual Worlds. In all probability I'll re-start my research in Fall 2010. I'm also one of the few students to become a
Microsoft Research Fellow in their second year of graduate studies. I have a few publications related to my thesis which can be found in my curriculum vitae
here or at dblp
here.
Travel:
I have been to quite a few countries: USA, Canada, Mexico, Turkey, Japan, China, Spain, France, Germany, Italy, Austria, Switzerland, Belgium, The Netherlands. Next on my schedule is a trip to Mumbai sometime in October followed by a trip to USA sometime in December 2009.
Photography:
Photography is my passion. I'm found carrying my camera way too often with me and my family finds it weird seeing me spend a couple of grands on equipment, which includes a Nikon D80, a Nikon 18-135mm f/3.5-5.6G ED-IF AF-S DX Zoom-Nikkor lens, a Nikon 70-300mm f/4.5-5.6G ED-IF AF-S VR Zoom-Nikkor lens and more recently a Sigma 10-20mm f/4-5.6 EX DC HSM Lens.
